Governance

Proposed founding principles

These principles are proposals for discussion, not finalized policy. The Alliance's structure is still being developed with member participation and legal guidance.

What we propose the network should commit to

  • Member independence is permanent and non-negotiable
  • Transparent governance with member representation
  • Clear conflict-of-interest management
  • Collaboration is always voluntary
  • Strong data privacy protections for members and participants
  • No automatic sharing of donor information
  • No transfer of member intellectual property
  • Clear, written rules for collaborative grants
  • Meaningful member participation in network decisions
  • The right to leave the network at any time

On legal structure

The Alliance of Community Nonprofits is in its founding stage. We are not making claims about incorporation status, tax-exempt status, or a finalized corporate structure. Those decisions are being worked through with legal guidance and with input from founding organizations, and we will publish them here as they are settled.

Founding organizations shape these principles.

If you want a voice in how this network is governed, now is the moment.
